Rose and Bernard Nadler: Rose and Bernard's story is a touching tale of hope, faith and undying love. Even as the two are separated on opposite ends of the island, they never give up on their love for each other. Eventually after being reunited, they settle in on the island, and make it there new home. This is because prior to the crash Rose had been terminally ill with cancer, but the Island's special healing powers make it possible for them to live out the days together. Obviously it would be much more controversial to have an interracial couple on a major television show in the 1950's, than modern day, but Lost (1954) isn't going to back down from taboo subjects, especially if it means higher ratings! I decided on Nina Mae McKinney as Rose, primarily because she was a talented actress and singer, who didn't get many quality roles in Hollywood in her day. For Bernard I chose the venerable Bob Hope, I think he could bring good humor to the role, and would do well at portraying Bernard sensitive/insecure personality. I would probably change there background to something, like a cabaret singer and stand up comedian who met while touring in Europe, and fell in love.
