Eko: Mr. Eko is the Born again Nigerian priest with a criminal past, as a child he took his younger brother's place as a child soldier for a drug cartel, doing so his brother Yemi, assumes Eko's role as a spiritual leader in the community. When his plans to smuggle drugs out of the country entangle Yemi ;and lead to his death, a repentant Eko has to assume the identity of a priest, which eventually leads him to the Island. While on the Island, Eko has a spiritual reawakening akin to Locke's on the other side of the island. From then on he becomes on of the most intriguing character for the short time he is on the island, displaying a quiet calm, worldly manner, and a fierce power utilized when necessary. For the previous reasons, I feel Paul Robeson would make the best Mr. Eko. The creators of Lost had originally planned to have a longer story arch with Eko, but had to cut it short when Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje asked to be removed from the show. I would imagine Orson Welles would do a bit more with this character, and Mr. Robeson would probably relish the role of Eko, as he had previously retired from acting in protest of the stereotypical roles offered to blacks at the time. As for Yemi, I feel Woody Strode would be a very good choice. Strode had a quite dignified way about him, that suits him for the part.
