Ben: Benjamin Linus' constant manipulation and deception, made him one of the greatest villains in television history. It's his back-story though that makes him a great total character. Raised by an emotionally abusive father, Ben's rise from shy loner to ruthless leader of the Others is truly masterful character study. Claude Rains would, better than any other actor of his generation, be able to convey this characters with the immense power and frailty the role demands. I can point to his performances in Notorious, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Casablanca and Lawrence of Arabia.
