Jack Shephard
Jack Shephard: Our Series' Main protagonist emerges as the De facto leader when he leaps into action following the plane crash, serving also as the Islands sole doctor. The role of Jack requires an actor who can display a silent intensity, a conscious vulnerability and an explosive temper. I believe that no actor envelopes all these characteristics better than Hank Fonda. I believe his unflappable portrayal of Tom Joad in "The Grapes of Wrath", his range shown in The Wrong Man, Fort Apache, The Ox-Bow Incident, etc. set his abilities apart from any other actor that can be considered for this role. Obviously he is a bit older than Mathew Fox (Fonda was 49 in 1954, Fox was 38 in Lost Season 1), but the show would be filmed in black and white and it was much more common for older actors in those days to play younger parts. Given all of that I am still convinced that Mr. Henry Fonda is your Jack Shephard.
