Charlie Pace

Charlie: Charlie Pace is on of the most beloved characters in the cast of Lost, and for good reason.  His troubles overcoming his drug addiction, his pursuit of Claire, his washed up rocker status, and his general good sense of humor endeared him to fans of Lost from the start.  To play Charlie, an actor would need to be able to quickly transition from extreme highs to extreme lows.  The high points being when Charlie first kicks his heroin addiction, when he and Claire first kiss, when he's hanging out with Hurley and Des.  The low  points are when he's suffering from withdrawal, when he upsets Claire, and  when Locke punched him out.  The best choice for Charlie Pace would be the beloved Dean Martin.  Normally a charming, likable comedic actor, Dean's best performance came in 1959's Rio Bravo in which he plays recovering drunk, "Dude".  Dean is clearly the perfect choice for Charlie, he even has the musical background to play perhaps a jazz musician or backup singer for a more famous artist, which would likely be the 1950's equivalent to Drive Shaft.
